| Hosting Miss-Kelly.org is hosted through Surpasshosting.com. Surpass Hosting offers more advanced hosting and I recommend it only if you are serious about starting and maintaining a website. I have yet to experience any complications with Surpasshosting, proving to be reliable as well. My personal favorite thing about Surpasshosting is their customer support. They get back to your questions and e-mails immediately! Free Servers are not recommended at all! They've been nothing but headaches for me. Graphics All graphics you see on this site are done by myself. The only program I use is Adobe Photoshop CS3. I wouldn’t recommend it to those just beginning with web design but it’s a good program to get into the habit of using. There’s just endless things to do in it. For those just beginning with graphic design, a more basic program to use would be Jasc Paint Shop Pro 8 which is available in a package with Animation Shop 3. I've never used Paint Shop Pro, but a lot of other website owners say it is easy to use and to find your way around in. Animation Shop has a ton of awesome filter effects you can apply to your graphics. Again, it can be confusing to those just beginning with web design. FTP GlobalScape CuteFTP Professional 6.0 is the program I use for all my file uploading. I’ve never had any problems with it and it’s the one I really know about. Image Capturing Except for what I use to make graphics, this has to be the second most asked question. “How do you get the captures for your website?” The answers simple. I record what I want from the TV using a Magnavox DVD/VCR Recorder onto Sony DVD+RW DVD's. I then cap using a program called Intervideo WinDVD SE on my computer. The captures are then resized using Adobe Photoshop CS3. Scanning All my scanning (ex: Magazines, Candid Photos) is done with a HP Photosmart 2575v All-in-One. It, or something like it can be purchased by visiting HPShopping.com. I have my scanner set to 300DPI. That allows the images to be scanned to my computer at very high quality. Decent quality photos are required for designing a website layout and making PSD's. (images on transparent backgrounds) All image resizing is done using Adobe Photoshop CS3. Creativity This is probably the most important thing on this page. I can’t stress it enough to the newcomers with web design. Being creative is huge! You have to be creative to be successful. DO NOT COPY OTHERS!!! It just leads to problems and you will eventually get caught and visitors will be turned away. Catch the visitors eye with unique things you don’t find elsewhere.
